Scan to PDF?

I have a few A4 documents of multiple pages to scan. Instead of saving these as .jpg format is there a way to scan each document and save it as a .pdf file?

What scanner have you got? Most come with software that will let you scan to PDF, if not Paint.NET should do it.

I have a HP CC4480 all in one. I installed the HP software, but quickly uninstalled it as it was mega crap. I only installed the printer/scanner/copier drivers.

The HP software should be able to scan it to a "document", which you can then convert to PDF.

Scan the items to any kind of document - .doc, .jpg, whatever.

Then install PDFCreator: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

This creates a virtual printer. In your program of choice open the scanned documents and print to the new virtual printer. Follow a few steps and voila, one PDF.

will pdf creator allow making a multipage document from single page jpegs? i.e is there an append mode?

You can save word documents as .pdf files now. Just copy the image into a document and save. Bang. Job done.

That's only Office 2007 though.
