Cannibal Holocaust & Salo look top of the list atm.

not just gory but genuine fear striking film

**EDIT i wasn't one impressed with Hostel but after reading what the film was based on and doing my research i was really impressed with the research the producers put into the film knowing this stuff could ACTUALLY happen kinda freaked me out :D but please dont recommend this crap otherwise the party shall be ruined**

August Underground has also been suggested

Requiem for a dream; if they're particularly weak-willed, they'll come out at the end feeling like they've just been violated.

As a bonus, it is an AWESOME film.

More gory than anything, but Guniea Pig:Flower of flesh and blood isn't one for the squeamish. Not really any storyline to it, and the sound effects made me squirm a bit.

I cant image most people watching more than quarter of it though, its pretty gory, japanese and has very little storyline.

Agree'd, its an awesome film.

The films in the OP are disturbing, but arn't by any means 'scary'. If you want to feel disturbed as in 'watching someone get raped' disturbed then either of those films will be suitable.

However, as stated, your friends might look at you a bit strange afterwards....

Cannibal Holocaust and Salo are both boring and really crap IMO. Both would be suitable if you want to freak people but neither will keep people entertained. Requiem For A Dream is a far better film but it's not as sick.

Please Note: If you do watch Cannibal Holocaust remember to tell everyone that the animals being killed are real, that should take out a few of the girls and some of the softer lads. If you watch Salo remember to serve a few platefuls of mini chocolate swiss rolls served in chocolate sauce. That should turn a few stomachs ;)

why do people watch or create these films? they are just pure sick, i dont understand.

scary films i can understand but these sorts i dont understand

I feel sorry for the actors and crew. They had to eat all the animals they killed (it's wasteful otherwise :D ). Must have taken a few takes so they were probably stuffed by the end of it!

I agree its a great film.. but scary? I certainly wouldn't say so.

i wouldn't class any film as scary - i just dont get scared watching a film  Having said that, the best film, that isn't just over the top gore has to be...the shining.

irreversable !

not scary but will freak people out and make them think your a weirdo

yeh ive seen that its class, quite clever

the first part where he gets killed with that fire extinguisher looked real and that rape scene, supposidly the longest rape scene in a film

I too wouldn't class any horror film as scary because they're all made up.
However, films like Dahmer are scary because it happened.
