Hi

What is the best way to get windows to shut down at a certain time ?

Quick answer appreciated

Tnx

choose that as the task, and if it says 'arguments' type /S in there

can't remember what it's like now..

xp or vista?

Thanks, i have that but i cannot find shutdown.exe ! I have searched and see an exe in system32 but it does not make my system to shut down.

Sorry to be a pain guys :)

LOL, I thought you mean the Task Sched. :p

AFAIR, its NTshutdown.exe or such (you must have seen Windows or an App calling for this before). ;)

BTW, You can shutdown PC using Tweak Now software (pretty crap in Vista but the Auto Shutdown is worth it).

You can't set a time as such but x hrs-x mins till shutdown.

Sorted, cheers for the help guys

Little guide i whisked up

Firstly you need to make sure that you can see hidden folder names, open any folder then click Tools > Folder Options > View > Hide extensions for unknown file types (make sure this is unticked)
Now you will need to create a .txt file and inside it write “shutdown /s /f /t 55”
Now you need to save and exit and then rename the file shutdown.BAT
This will turn it into a batch file and if you double click it will shut the pc down giving you a 55 second warning

Put this somewhere safe and point the windows scheduler to it so that it shuts the pc down
