Thanks for the links. Do you have any thoughts on this at all?

I don't think it is such a bad thing getting kids to mix with people from other cultural backgrounds than the ones that the are already used it.

Sounds like big fuss over nothing.

Seems a bit silly, down in the South West a lot of schools don't have a massive ethnic diversity and your not going to do anything productive with a silly school trip. That said when I was at school we did used to do 1 day trips every other school year to mix with pupils from another school in the region so that aspect isn't so unusual.

Totally pointless and a waste of money. I would refuse to let my children go on the trip, not because I am racist (my wife is Indian) but because the whole idea is ridiculous and condescending: "look kids, brown children, why don't got play nicely together".
I grew up in a 99% white area, I didn't turn me and my friends into bigots.

The thing that maddens me most about this is the school and Ofsted's attitude.
The school is in an area where there is no significant ethnic diversity and Ofsted is not giving the school a top rating because of it. Can you all imagine the national uproar there would be if the same Ofsted team refused to give a school in central birmingham a top rating because there were no white children in the school. Parents have little choice where there children go to school and it's generally to the nearest one. Just because some of us live out in the sticks where there is not a large diversity of races, does not mean our schools should be penalized by the PC brigade within Ofsted.
Get off your high PC horse and judge schools on what they actually teach our children, not what your PC beliefs and friends in Notting Hill tell you they should teach.

You do know the "I can't be racist because my girlfriend/best mate is [insert ethic minority here]" is a totally fallacious argument?

Still, going off what you said it would be rather odd for a racist to date someone of another race that they would presumably detest?

You are misunderstanding what a racist is. It is someone who hates ANY race/creed not someone who hates EVERY race/creed other than their own.

A person who has a black wife but hates Pakistanis is still a racist. Alternatively, someone who likes 'westernised' Asian women but dislikes their traditional counterpart and thinks they should all convert to the former would also be racist.

Most racists generally appear to believe that their race is superior to all others, I would have thought it quite rare for someone to solely hate a single race without harbouring similar feelings for any others.
