Passed away in his sleep on the tour bus on the way to a gig.

Obviously had a poor history of drug abuse which could well be the cause but for such a talented person to die so young is very sad. I have an STP in the CD player right now so I'll be listening to that on the way to work I think.

I saw this when I woke up and I'm sad. One of the best lead singers ever. Let's be honest though, with his addiction issues, he's been living on borrowed time for awhile now.

RIP to a legend :-(

I'm actually surprised that he lasted as long as he did. It's obviously sad however to hear of the passing of another rock hero.

This ^^^

I saw Velvet Revolver back in the early 00's and was all "ooo, Slash is gonna be sooooo awesome". Scott totally filled the stage, it was lke there was no one else there. He was such an amazing front man

:( I loved STP during the nineties/noughties and went to several of their gigs at Brixton academy; he was a hell of front man and great singer, sad news.

So that's three of the four big voices of grunge gone - Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley and Scott Weiland. Let's hope Chris Cornell is a bit healthier...

He was a lot younger than I thought - damned shame. It just feels like yesterday when I was out buying Purple back when it came out!

I'd include Pearl Jam in that line up.

Sad to hear of his death. STP were part of my soundtrack as I was stumbling through the 90s.

Absolutely loved VR back in the day, weirdly added Contraband to my Spotify playlist last night and then this happens :(
