You Scouts are gonna love this highly collectible bat that smacks baseballs at the other team, stunning the living crap outta anybody dumb, slow, drunk, mute or Australian enough to get in the way. The farther the ball flies before ricocheting offa some chucklehead's skull, the longer he's gonna be stunned. And guys who think they're tough because they're invulnerable? It works on them too. Now the bad news: You can't double jump when you're carrying this little beauty. On the other hand, double jumping never put anybody in a coma


A. Hit a guy with the ball to stun him. The farther the ball travels, the longer he’s gonna be out.

B. Now laugh at the guy because he ain’t doin’ nothin for a while but gettin’ beat on.

C. Get in there and take some cheap shots! You deserve it. So does he. Batter SWING!

Seen as i play scout for the soul enjoyment of smacking people with the bat, and using double jump to get out of the way should it fail, this doesnt interest me that much...

And being stunned while ubered is a bit poo to, seen as most ubers are on Heavies, who are already traveling at 0.1mph anyway...

They will be dazed and it sounds like they won't be able to do a thing while they are like that which removes them as a threat.

I suspect they will be able to attack/defend but it would much look something like the drunken style (gta4) hard as hell aiming, dickie birds and stars in a circle above yed.
 
I'm torn..

on one hand, the double jump is fantastic, and neccessary on maps like 2fort
on the other, my fave weapon is the bat, and I'll take every chance I can to bat someone.

Will be nice to see what they are going to add to the scout, as in my opinion it can be one of the best classes in the game...from a certain point of view. ;)
 
Haha, update sounds good so far, gonna be so many scouts next tuesday! removing the scout's double jump sure is a big price to pay though! at least it's something original and not just another insta-crit melee weapon.

Its hard enough geting people playing medics as it is. Pyros can push you away or in the air then sg's push u back for miles rendering the uber useless, now scouts can now stun you while your uberd, rendering the uber useless.

I hope the ball is really easy to aviod or hard to aim, i have visions of lots of scouts sitting back in there base spaming baseballs in the hope they hit some one.

I think value are really running out of idea's of how to blance the classes and add new content to them.

Dont think it will affect balance much. When a medic uber charges, he/she (medic) wont just stand still and watch a pyro or heavy do all the work...im sure its not like a auto aim baseball :rolleyes:
 
I hope your right, its just scout it going to be a popular class now, just like pyro is. If you get 2 or 3 scouts doing the baseball thing its going to be hard to aviod not matter what class you go.

I feel sorry for the heavys not only are the a easy target for snipers, spys and demoman, seems like they going to be scout fodder now too.

Oh well least heavies got a sandwich.
 
I'd wait until we get to play around with the new content before we judge the impact it will have. I'm guessing we'll be seeing some new maps with this also, or maybe a new mode, again there are six days listed and the weapons will only take three.
 
I think it'll be like the flare gun, only harder to hit somebody with. Chances are the ball will have mega drop, travel slowly and take a while to be hit. Considering how tricky it is to hit somebody moving with a flare gun, the baseball will be an absolute bitch against all but the slowest targets.

Anyway, I doubt many people will use it as the double jump makes the scout.
 
Really looking forward to this, the chaos that will erupt on servers when the new achievements are put in is gonna be legendary. :D

I know I'll be going straight for the batting achievements. :p

Boohoo. People whined about the Medic/Pyro/Heavy updates yet when they went live everything was dandy.

Erm I think the flare gun is easy to aim and hit with, just as long as the target is moving back and forth randomly then it is quite easy. All you have to do is lead the target a little.

On the other hand I am sure it will balance well, but I do dislike it stunning uber as medics are hard enough to come by and against a well oiled defence uber is the ONLY thing you have to break through those damned turrets.
