Apparently Scrabble is too hard, because you need to know words and stuff. It's also too competitive and you don't get Special Powerup Cards.

Never fear! If you don't like Scrabble, you can now play New Scrabble, with extra rules and Special Cards. No more trying to remember how to spell spell "zoaeae" for a juicy triple word score.

Jesus wept, just burn the world. Burn it all!

First they introduced wheelchairs in dungeons and dragons and I didn't speak out because I didn't play dungeons and dragons... :D

Was that real or an internet meme thing? I never looked too closely.

If it's legit I don't know what to say, if I lived in a fantasy world and lost the use of my legs I'd not be using a damned wheelchair. I'd float around using levitation spells, or have robot legs or some ****, maybe a spider crab style mecha chair.

Next on the list of games the latest generation can't / won't play - Mouse Trap because it's too cruel and Kerplunk because we need to think of the sea turtles.

I think it's more of a meme now - it's an unofficial supplement that seems to be popular with some players and according to knowyourmeme.com appears to have caused all sort of grief among D&D Redditors:

I can spell perfectly fine, probably better than average but I find Scrabble to be exceptionally boring so if this makes it better to play then great. Although I won't be getting it and don't know anyone who will so probably will never play it. So really not sure why I'm contributing to this thread, have a great day.

Look up Scrabble Trickster and then come back & tell me you still think Scrabble Together is the worst thing they've ever done

I might actually pick up Scrabble Together. Nobody will play Scrabble with me any more as I pretty much always win. And I refuse to play Trickster because it is absolute nonsense.

This just so silly that I'm lost for words.

Sounds fun tbh.

The original Scrabble, if you've played it with proper nerds, is impossible. There are so many outrageous words not used in regular life that score really high. It really isn't any fun.

You sound like a man that needs to buy Monopoly Deal

We've really turned into mumsnet with the state of the moaning going on in here recently.
To be fair the whole BBC article is bait. It sounds exactly like what Monopoly Deal did to regular Monopoly but they've led off with

"This week, for the first time in its 75-plus year history, a new "collaborative" version of Scrabble was launched in an attempt to entice Generation Z players to the traditional word-making game.
I went along to a board game cafe to try out the game that has, in the words of some critics, "gone woke"."

Sounds like BBC are trying to appeal to the boomer mind virus.

Of all the weird things in life to get upset about.
This tomes a million.

They've not banned the old game, they've not stopped selling the old game, they've just made an official variant that gives a different, potentially more enjoyable way to play.

Anything that gets the reddit nerds whining is good:p

Seriously though, it's an expansion, there are god only knows how many unofficial expansions, and it gave people who wanted a character that represented them a bit better in the game the option to have one.
IIRC it was basically a collection of baseline rules/ideas for how you could incorporate a mobility device into a game that had been worked out by people, and from memory had some great ideas, but the neckbeards as always got upset about it "ruining my game" even though they'd never likely encounter anyone who used one in game (and the people that complained the most tended to be the sort of people that are most likely to make the game non fun).
