Scrabble scrambled scam

The original Scrabble, if you've played it with proper nerds, is impossible. There are so many outrageous words not used in regular life that score really high. It really isn't any fun.
I'm not a fan of it, but I remember laying Zygote on a triple word score once.
I have basic secondary school education to thank for such outrageous words as that, so I wouldn't say it's impossible. What I find most challenging is that, despite knowing plenty of really weird and obsolete words, it's still of no use unless you get the right letters for them.
I'd say Scrabble is more a luck-of-the-draw game than specifically about knowing outrageous words.

You haven't played enough games to suffer the outrage then. There are over 100 2 letter words including "Qi".

Nah, we just implemented home rules against such BS. Also, the only handy dictionary we had that could live in the game box was a pocket one from 1966, which didn't really have many of those.

I feel apprehensive and slightly intimidated about playing this game. The fact that it requires 20 goal cards to win, that's a lot of stress for the team if you don't reach that target.

Except the BS you are cutting out are "real approved words" in a game about making up words
The rules state that everyone agrees which dictionary will be used, so approval is down to that... and since we only have one that does not include, or even predates, most of them, the problem is solved.
"Za" or "zah/zar" as mentioned above was not being used by the trendy middle-class Kentish denizens I first heard using it, back in 1966.

Woke mind virus has got you man :(

Can we bring back the internet when all it was good for was Playing online games and Thehun, the world was much nicer.

If not let it burn.

How is this 'woke'? Ignoring the whiny Leftists and forcing people to use proper big-boy words, instead of finding ways to make it easier and eliminating all competition, reducing the game to a participation trophy for everyone.
To me, my approach seems the very antithesis of wokeness....

If there was a game where I’d get consistently thrashed by Mrs Sk8, it’s Scrabble.

I might actually stand a chance with this version.

I can spell perfectly fine, probably better than average but I find Scrabble to be exceptionally boring so if this makes it better to play then great. Although I won't be getting it and don't know anyone who will so probably will never play it. So really not sure why I'm contributing to this thread, have a great day.
Right next time I see you, we'll play a game. I struggle with spelling and therefore I find Wordle and Scrabble harder than most. Anything easier is a win in my book.

You are literally using an "easy mode" dictionary because it is too difficult to play it properly, vs. a reimagining of the game entirely.
Scrabble was invented in 1938. I'm merely playing an older version than todays', without a lot of the easy cop-out 2-letter 'cheat' words.
It's like playing a video game without aim-assist...
