Scrap alloys

Has anyone ever taken scrap alloys to scrap yard and if so was it worth it.

I have my Focus 18" rims and tyres sitting around thinking to myself I will get blow lamp out and bash then sort of round.
No chance I can't be bothered. Can't really sell them as they have bad pothole damage and repair is pointless as now have 16" rims and ride is so much better.

Stick em on gumtree or similar

Sounds perfect for a boy racer to do the opposite 16s to 18s even better if they have legal tyres

yeap, i had some old peugeot alloys with cracks and a guy bought them off me via gumtree , i even pointed out the faults and told him they were not worth repairing still had them. amazing what folk will buy.
your trash is anothers treasure.
someone may only need a set to put on a car while theres are being refurbed ......

I had some old mondeo ones sat in my garden for ages thinking they had some value.

Took em to a local scrappy who said he'd had enough faff getting the tyres off em and ditching the tyres so wouldn't even offer anything.

I just said he could have em for free then if he he wanted. (I probs fell for his bluff)

50 to 60 pence a kilo, with the tyres removed, taken to a metal recyclers. Perhaps £2.00 to £2.50 a wheel? Unless you can wrestle the tyres off yourself probably not worth bothering to be honest.
