Scrappage Continued

Whilst it's nice to think that way, it's unlikely. People are just too stupid and blinded by the OMG TWO THOUSAND POUNDS DISCOUNT nonsense

Which part of the economy is it stimulating?

Probably a VERY long list of effects on economy, which people who are 'experts' in the field have worked out is best for us. These people know the 'economy' a lot better than you or me...

I guess it stimulates the car industry in the UK as a whole and everything connected with it (which is probably a huge list), more importantly it makes people spend money, which in turn stops companys folding, people losing jobs and us decending into a never ending recession.

Makes people spend money they don't have, growing the massive collective personal and public debt to prop up businesses that are producing more than we need!

Ah yes of course, every decision the government makes is the right one, as they know best. Good argument.

nothing wrong with debt, it's how the western worlds economys function... it's lenders lending to those who cannot pay that caused this mess. (toxic dept)

I'm all for business failing thats obsolete and unwanted, but when the business is a entire industry that has so many smaller ones depending on it steps have to be taken I guess.

There is a Wagon R in that photo, is anyone weeping for that ? ;)

Don't be daft ;) .... of course not, but do you think the tea boy made this one up and that was it. I don't think anyone on this forum 'knows better', and if they think they have the answers they are full of the proverbial :D

I would have hoped economists designed this one..... I hate labour though as a party and will be voting them out next election hopefully.

Well there we go then, lets stop ever discussing government schemes. Infact, why even have an election, whoever is in power knows best.

You would have 'hoped'? I very much doubt it was designed by economists at all.

It was thought up last minute as a result of pressure and lobbying from the car manufacturers.

I was going to post something sensible, then I thought....

...DESTRUCTION DERBY!! :D

It's the only right thing that can happen. Send them out of service in style TBQH.

There's an A Class in there, what is an A Class doing there! Especially one with a panoramic sunroof!

Literally exactly that. The SMMT pushed and pushed for this, and guess whose analysis is "proving" the scrappage scheme to be a success? You guessed it, the SMMT's! :D

Whilst the influx of Hyundai and other foriegn car sales have increased, has the scrappage scheme had any positive impact on the UK economy?

If it has/hasn't please state why. :)

I repeat, it's got a fair number of people in debt. And our economy seems to be built on moving money around for a fee. So, there it is.

Stupid waste by a stupid government.

***NEW SCHEME - TRUE SCRAPPAGE***

Bring your MOT failing POS car to the airfield/drive it to local scrapyard, pay £1000-1500 and drive away with any of the 400,000 perfectly fine cars.

Pros
-Roads safer due to having better cars on it.
-Government turning a profit on a scheme for once.
-Benifits those who can't afford a new car.
-Environment cleaner
-More work for the local grease monkey

Cons
-Money goes to us instead of Korea/inserforeigncountry...
