What l do with my OS Disk is make BOOTABLE USB Stick and put the OS on that, keeping your origional OS Disk in good condition, there's plenty of info on the net how to do it just google it. :)

If you have windows and all its temp files on the USB stick, you will kill your USB in a much quicker time than you would your HDD :(

I think he means to use the stick instead of the disc when installing windows. It is handy I have to admit but I don't reinstall from disc often, usually restore an image already activated and updated.

Apparently installing from a decent flash drive is faster than using a DVD so I might give it a go.

Sorry should have made it abit more clear, yes install OS from a bootable usb stick and it is alittle bit quicker. Like audiolab to save time if things go wrong with c:. I restore it of a image, which like audiolab l keep up to date.

PS - one of our cats sat on my keybroad and submited the reply so had to finish it by edit.

LoL, yes l agree with you Mattus, but you have to take > sod's law into account or as Commander Sam Shaw from Stingray would say, when they were about to be attacked " Anything can happing in the next half hour"

Now that was a classic TV series when l was young many moons ago > Stingray (marionette's)created by Gerry and Sylva Anderson.
