Screen artifacts issue...please help

For the last few years, these screen artifacts (photo link at bottom) have appeared whenever I use Google Maps. They also show up when I use Adobe Lightroom and sometimes even YouTube.

I built my PC in 2019 using an AMD Ryzen 5 2400g with Vega 11 graphics. I've just ordered a GPU as I want to start gaming (GTX 1660).

Until now, the artifacts have been bearable as I've only used my PC for photo editing and general use, but I know it will really bug me if it persists whilst gaming. Any suggestions on what might be causing it?

Here are the rest of my specs (as much as I can remember):
MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon
Corsair 2x8gb ram 2666mhz
Corsair 650w Bronze
Be Quiet rock something or other
Samsung 250gb SSD
BenQ SW240 1080p 60hz monitor

Motherboard/vega drivers up to date ?

Daft question but have you tried a different monitor lead and even a different monitor?

Drivers are up to date as of last week, still having the same problem though.

I have tried a different monitor, problem persisted. I'll try a different cable now since it's been a while, I can't remember if I ever have.

Try changing the resoloution just to see if there's any diffrence .

Just tried a different HDMI cable and resolution, no difference :/

Artifacts are normally a GPU problem and you are currently using the Vega 11 iGPU in the 2400g. You have ordered the 1660 so wait for it to arrive and there is a high probability that the issue will be fixed when you start using that card.

It mite be app specific due to vega graphics Once you get your 1660 it will probably solve it.

Have you tried displayport and hdmi?

Defo a weird one gpu artefacts are quite often vram related which your apu doesnt have, agree with flinn the problem will likely disappear once you get a discreet card.

Never seen it on an APU before.

OP: do you have any kind of accessibility software enabled, screen scaling / resizing or custom UI?

The monitor is 1920x1200 natively, not sure if that would make any difference or is relevant to screen scaling? Windows just accounts for that.
I haven't downloaded any software out of the norm.

Looking at my GPU metrics, it does say Vega 11 is utilising VRAM at approx 220mb idly. Could you explain further about VRAM being the issue?

Artifacts generally occur when there is a fault or overheating/overclocking with the vram. An APU does not have vram and uses the system ram for its framebuffer which is most likely not overheating but there could be an issue with the bus to the apu. I cannot perfectly remember but some of these types of apu did at times have a vram cache on the chip and maybe that is overheating or at fault.

The easiest way to check if the igpu is to blame for these artifacts is to plug in a discrete gpu and see if it fixes the issue. Just wait for 1660 to arrive, instal NV drivers then plug it in, you may need to go into the bios to change display output.

Thanks for informing me, I'll wait for the 1660 and worry about it after.
