Screen burn on my LCD

Since i've got Windows 8 the computer spends a lot of time on the metro screen. It seems that this has now burned into my screen
It's a BenQ FP241W from around 2008. Any ideas if this is going to be permanent?

Im sure i read that modern tft get brown in, not burn in...you can d/l apps that will alternate between bright colours overnight to reduce the effect.
