I'm been tasked with producing a number of videos to demonstrate to new users how to use a new software package. I've no real experience of this so have been googling to find suitable software for the purpose. The videos should be as high quality as possible, balanced with being a reasonable size for download. The will be embedded on a webpage and/or in a PDF.

I've come across Camstudio, anyone used this or have any other suggestions? I do have a small budget so can pay if needs be, but would prefer to save this for other things.

Fraps paid

Msi Afterburner has built-in screen recording for Free

They Also Dxtory but that don't allow you to recorded desktop only Programs Like games.

That's what seemed OK about that Camstudio which I linked in the OP. I'll do a bit of testing, I was just wondering if anyone had done anything similar & could save me some time.

Go for Camstudio.

If you're going to be doing these videos quite often, then have you considered something like Camtasia? You can do all your editing, and even export to flash etc. from within the same program.

Thanks. I'm going to be doing 50-60 of these - would Camtasia be better than Camstudio? Apparently you can convert to .SWF from within Camstudio too.
