Screen goes black for a few seconds when alt-tabbing for example

Hi,

I've had this annoying thing for the last couple of driver releases or so.

Basically if i'm in a game and I alt tab or even just locking my computer, the screen goes black for about 2-3 seconds and then the picture of the desktop or whatever reappears. The same then happens when I go back to a game or unlock my desktop.

The desktop is at 1920 x 1080 120hz as are all the games I play.

So why does it do this? In the past it used to do it seemlessly with no black screen at all?

Is there a setting I can change to make it behave like before?

11.1 and Sapphire Radeon 5800 HD.

Does it with my 6970 aswell. Dont think it is a major problem. Most likely just windows lagging. If it is really bothering you do a reinstall but atleast defrag the hdd

Yeah I get the same with UAC prompts since 10.12

is it a setting in UAC, read somewhere you can stop it dimming the screen

control panel/user accounts/change user account control settings and drop the slider down one step and see if it fixes it.

I don't use UAC, it's not a dimming. It's complete black out.

It's not a major issue, just a bit of a niggle.
