Screen going black for a second while playing

They do that. Most of the time they work, then they suddenly black screen.

It might not be the cable, but it certainly could be. For sure, it's worth the price of a cable to find out.

Thanks new cable coming today. That'll rule out that and drivers.

Another the frame counter on the monitor is still misreporting, it just alway shows the windows refresh rate, it used to work. I wonder if that's the cable, seems odd.

I did a couple of GPU benchmarks last night. It seems to perform well and no black screens under load (I still had Windows set at 144).

Run nvidia MATS to be on safe side

My LG C9 does this from time to time. It's just what that TV does though. Nothing to do with the computer.
My old C9 used to do this. It turned out that I needed a better HDMI cable. Once I got a certified 48Gbps cable it never did it again. It was the only variable to change to it was definitely the cable.

If you want to run your TV at 120Hz then you need the bandwidth, a quality 1.4 HDMI cable (which I had) simply won't do it without periodic blackouts.

My 3m certified 48Gbps cost £7.99 so hardly expensive. ;)
worth a punt. at the end of the day you can always return it if it doesn't make a difference.
