I need a new monitor (current one on its way out). I currently have an old Dell 24" display - around 6yrs old, which I've been happy with but I'm getting vertical coloured lines and really it doesn't owe me anything.
I've read through so many threads here and as soon as I'm ready to make my choice I read something that makes me change my mind - so want to hit the buy button.
My requirements are:

24" (I know 27" is becoming popular, however I'm happy with that size and for my needs about right)
1920x1080 (My current display is 1920x1200, however that seems to be a "dead resolution" these days? Think I can cope with the slight height loss)
Fast Response (I game, but not "to the extreme". I play many MMORPG's and I hate motion blur, but I don't play so much FPS)
Vibrant Colours (Too many times I've been stuck in front of a "washed out" screen - want good, deep colours)
HDMI (Probably a given these days. My current card has mini HDMI and it's the "connector of choice")
Height Adjustable (Would rather have the ability to raise/lower screen without stands. However not essential, would sacrifice this for right screen)

So there we have it. I'd like to find a Full-HD, 24" screen with an array of inputs. Fast enough response rate for games but with clean, vibrant colours and possibly in a package that height adjusts. What should I be looking at?

I was almost sold on the BenQ XL2411T until I read at least two posts from people who say the colours look washed out. Someone even said they weren't buying for the colours rather the response rate. I really do want both.
The Dell U2312HM is mentioned. However response rate seems to be around 4x that of the faster screens. Also it's only 23" - I'm coming from a 1920x1200 24" so will look even smaller.

Can you give me some suggestions? I don't mind "left field" suggestions if there is something not so well known. I'm also more than happy to entertain screens not sold here (although obviously I do NOT want any links to other retailers).
Need to get rid of the failing screen but want to buy something that will last me a fair amount of time & meets my criteria.

I'd guess up to the £250 - £300 mark.
Always willing to consider things either side of this budget - it's the "bit you look at all day" so important.

Im looking for a new monitor too and my budget is £200 , was looking at Dell UltraSharp U2412M , i play games and at full res on my alienware .

Thanks for the responses.
I've at last managed to find out the exact model I currently have. It's a Dell 2408WFP. So specification wise:

Panel Type: S-PVA
Response Rate: 6ms G2G
1920x1200
Contrast: Up to 3000:1 Dynamic
Brightness: 400 cd/m2

If I also said that I've never played a game on this screen and said "oh, that's a blur, I really could do with something faster".
Maybe just an updated IPS Dell would be a good replacement and give me the opportunity to stay with 1920x1200?
