Screen Resolution problem

Start by clicking advanced settings

looks like display drivers may have been mis-installed (or windows 10 did it), what changed ?
Do you exclusively use an add-on graphics card and expect both monitors to be driven by it , or do you use the integrated Intel HD graphics. ?
I would not expect to see a microsoft driver for an Nvidia card, so I suspect you may need to obtain/re-install Intel HD and then Nvidia driver (from Nvidia)

I use win 8.1 64bit
Graphics card EVGA GeForce 6600 GT with 2 RGB sockets each one connected to a monitor. Both monitors work but, both show the same things & cannot split them so that I can drag things from #1 into No.2 as I used to before I messed up.
I must have done something to change the screen resolution or the "Display" in control panel, which used to show both screens & options what to do with them.

Also I used to have an "Invidia" item when I right clicked on the desktop which opened an Invidia control panel with options to manage the 2 screens. How can I reinstall that?

Looks like the drivers are missing, so it's using the basic Microsoft one which doesn't properly do extended displays.
You can get the latest drivers from Nvidia, these are the ones for the 6600, Windows 8 64-bit: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/download/driverResults.aspx/82850/en-uk
It may or may not work, but it seems support for it stopped before 8.1 came out.

HURRAY !!!!!! Done it, ddu removed the old driver & installed the 3908 & most importantly with it came the Nvidia control panel when I right click.

As an afterthought,
all these troubles happened when I tried on a "GeForce GTX750 Ti" & loaded its drivers. It could not connect my old LG monitor because the modern DVIcables have no small pins above & below the spade to fit in the RGB/DVI adaptor, even did not work using the LG's HTMI.
Does it mean that I'll never be able to upgrade the V. Card with my present System?

When you say RGB I assume you mean VGA?
Which 750Ti model was it? It should have at least one DVI port that is DVI-I, which can work in VGA mode. The other DVI port is DVI-D meaning digital only.
HDMI should work though. What are the models of your monitors?

I ordred on ebay today this used 9800 card below which is what I had for a few years before it went belly-up (except it had 1 VDI & 1 VGA & was 512 MB) . That one found both monitors but what worries me is when I download its drivers will I loose again the Nvidia Control Panel as it happened with the VD card I tried?
If it does get lost how do I get it back, because I do not think it will work with the 309.08 driver of the 6600 that reinstalled the lost Nvidia Control Panel. ...........thanx .....nick

When you install the drivers it should be able to pick up both screens and allow you to set them in extended mode with the right resolutions. Without them you're very limited on monitor settings.

The 309.08 drivers I linked before was for the 6600, it won't work with the 9800GT.

Disregard previous. I managed to find it this way:-
To Install NVIDIA control panel:-
1.google:- " Download NVIDIA Display Control Panel 6.14.12 Build 5741 "
2. gets this:- http://download.canadiancontent.net/NVIDIA_Display_Control_Panel.html
3. choose this for 64 bit:- "2: Hosted by Nvidia.com" & SAVE IT where you want to.
4. where you saved it look for this:- " 258.96_desktop_win7_ Vista_64bit..........."
and double click it.
5.You get this " C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\258.96\WinVista_Win7_64\English " and click OK.
Note: I don't remember if PC is restarted.
Presto, if you right ckick on desktop in the options is "NVIDIA control panel", click it and you have all the functions. I got both my screens back, but not shure yet if this 9800 1GB is any better than the old 512mb 6600.
