Bit of an odd one here.

I've got my Samsung 27" TA550 (click for link) plugged into PC to watch movies on, but I'm getting a lot of screen tearing, could be anything from BBC iPlayer to watching movies on VLC Media Player.

Example (clip has been slowed down):

However, if I put the same movie onto a USB Drive and plug the usb into the tv and play it that way then it's fine.

What settings do I need to change? If anything?

Do you have another monitor plugged into the PC at the same time? If so, what is the setup?

I ask because I get screen tearing like that when running my laptop cloned onto an external display with lower native resolution. The laptop screen lowers to match the external display, but for some reason I get tearing on both screens when watching YouTube or even scrolling around windows. It almost looks like a VSync issue.

No option for V-Sync on the TV itself unfortunately..

Setup is currently:
Primary: BenQ XL2410T 120Hz
Secondary: Samsung TA550 (Cloned with primary except not at 120hz)

Is it possible to connect the screen via something else like DVI or VGA? My friend had a similiar problem with a Samsung monitor when connected via HDMI, but it was perfectly fine on DVI/VGA.
