Screw Mod my 205!

check your I/C hoses. i left one of mine off after some work the other day and it ran like a bag of spanners. i have the right book of lies for the engine if you need any info

Does it even have an intercooler mate?

I'm not sure that it does!

Yeah, 78bhp, very heavy up front, as said above it understeers a little bit and I have 15's on there! :p

I assume it is coming on boost then? Check all the normal connections under the hood (i.e. make sure nothing is loose) and I'm not sure if its too early to be able to plug in an ECU error code reader (some later 309s / 205s used medieval injection systems)

As a passing thought, make sure the accelerator cable goes to full swing!

Looks tidy from the outside. Be sure to get yourself a nice GTi interior to match the alloys!

The interior is suprisingly comfy though the seats don't hold you in very well - all part of the fun I s'pose.

Yeah, throttle cable is the first thing I checked, she's nice and tight.

I don't think it has an ECU either, all mechanical I believe. Does anyone know the exact engine name or know of any tuning guides?

Saytan, I don't suppose the Haynes tells you where the boost compensation screw is does it? Or where the I/C if it has one...can't say that I noticed one but then again I didn't look at the engine for very long.

im almost certain it doesnt have an IC, as that was something galv added. dont be silly and spend hundreds on some 'pro' intercooler just get a cheapie one from a scrappie and bodge a front mount, plenty of how too guides dotted around on owners forums

it may do - i'll check when i get chance. it specifically covers the 205 applications of the engine so it should be fairly accurate.

Hollow donking from the front end is normally the ARB droplinks.

Only when steering though surely not when just turning off the engine? The droplinks went on my old saxo and I got clunk clunk clunk turning the wheel all the time and going over bumps but not when turning off the engine.

Also don't know if the 205 is the same, but with the Saxo and 106 only the sporty models have droplinks i.e VTR/Rallye/VTS/GTI.

OK, it feels like the turbo isn't working!

WTF is wrong with me and cars.

What can I do to fix it?

Do you hear it spool up ( Mine is very noisy )

I also get boost at 45 mph in 3rd, i checked this morning on the way to work, Maybe a hose has come off somewhere

I don't know how to test turbo's mate but it sounds dodgy,

Why don't you pop round to your local garage and ask them to have a quick look
