I need to test a lto2 drive i have here so i have put an adapter 39320a in to a spare machine (which has had it working before) to enable me to test the drive.

However, when i check to see if its installed properly its coming up with just "SCSI/RAID Host Controller" instead of the proper driver and doesn't pick up the tape drive, but it does seem to find a scsi cd-rom from somewhere which i assume is the tape drive not being recognised properly due to an incorrect driver.

I have uninstalled the scsi card, changed to another pci slot, updated the driver with the "have disk" option and told it exactly which driver to install but it refuses to keep it when i reboot the machine.

I can't get my head around why it would do this, anyone encounterd this before?

wasn't it you who had this before, and it turned out the driver was for the dell version of the model of the controller and not the 'branded' manufacturer's site..

if not, then try that :)

I dont think that was me, but i went to the adaptec site and got the latest drivers for it but the thing still refuses to keep the driver i'm telling it to use.

As soon as i install the driver (even before i reboot) it still says SCSI/RAID Host Controller instead of adapter 39320a or whatever it should say :(

check for any HP/Dell markings on it, sometimes they re-brand them a bit and only their drivers will work

No markings for Dell or HP or anything other adaptec, the only thing i can say is that it's beeb plugged in to a normal pc PCI slot, there is a section of the slot on the card which sits out of the socket but it does fit in the PCI slot without problem and I know i have had this working before!

Edit, i've rebooted and now it shows the 39320a twice (both ports i assume) plus the SCSI/RAID Host controll underneith :/

Weird, now i need to get the driver for my LTO drive, lol.
