I take it you cannot get a normal PCI card that can handle U320?

this beyond the old PCI's transfer rate?

Fastest I could find was 160, which is 60 more than the max pci bus trans rate is it not?

Depends on what type of PCI slot it is.

a normal 32bit 33mhz PCI slot supports up to 133MBps
a 64 bit one doubles this to 266MBps, and a 66Mhz one can double this again.

AFAIK, pci-X cards will work in a PCI slot(Don't hold me to this though), but it will obviously be limited to the maximum speeds of the slot.

yeah normal PCI. So 160 it is, and even that will not be fully utilised?
