SCSI?

I'm starting to get very tempted to get some scsi gear to play with, i've come accross it in work a fair bit but never really had a good old play!

Only thing that puts me off is the cost - it seems damn expensive even with 2nd hand gear.... or am I looking in the wrong places?

I have 5 used 36GB Maxtor 320 10K drives you can have very cheap

What card would I need to use them, bearing in mind I only have an Abit KN8?

I'll hold out then, I am interested though providing I can get a card and they're at the right price

The problem with the KN8 is you've only got PCI or PCIe 1x slots so the range of cards available to you is pretty limited. There are plenty of PCI cards out there but you'll be bandwidth limited by the PCI bus once you stick a couple of drives on the card, it'll be fine for playing with but don't expect stellar performance.

Alternatively PCIe 1x cards are starting to appear, the Adaptec 29320LPE for one, but I very much doubt that any will be available second hand yet. PCIe 1x will give you about twice the bandwidth of old style PCI so performance will be better.
