Scumbag company Nintendo goes all Asus: “Service” as a goldmine, a double cycle of goods for cheated customers

To remind ourselves of this once again: Instead of helping customers and unscrewing the console at least once in the service department in order to then replace a dirt-cheap cent part after a real diagnosis, only the exchange by means of a refurbished console is offered across the board, but then the customer’s original device must remain with the manufacturer and is supposedly “professionally disposed of” by Nintendo then professionally repairing it for a few cents and reselling it to the next customer again at a high price! That’s not just cheeky, it’s perfidious money-grubbing and Nintendo is probably on very thin ice legally.

Poor show from Nintendo. Feel sorry for any customer having to deal with their BS.

Can't see the actual point being made. Is it about an unknown common fault?

No as I read it, Nintendo wanted to charge the customer $200 for a repair as the console was actually liquid damaged.

Also some fake outrage because Nintendo keep your old console and send you out a refurbished (but as new condition) one to expedite such a repair (rather than waiting much longer for actual repair of "your" console)

Is the OP a member of staff? If not, that's a confusing username, could cause issues if they keep posting crap like this and users think it is coming from an official source.

Staff members are identified as such under the username, the same as moderators / admins etc.

I'm perplexed by who is losing out here. They speed up the "repair" by shipping a different, refurbed console, and then refurb the return to ship in future to someone else. Unless there's an allegation that the refurb process is not up to snuff, what's the problem?

It seems that it's being interpreted as being sold a refurb console for €200 (rather than charged for a repair that they believe should cost virtually nil) and not being allowed to keep the original damaged console which they had paid €300 for.

With a little bit of assumed 'fraud' involved because Nintendo said they'd dispose of the old console to protect data but they think it'll be 'resold' to someone else as a €200 refurb itself.

I mean, Nintendo are just as scummy and money grabbing as any other large company. This doesn't sound like it even touches the sides when it comes to that sort of thing though.

Agree it is a poor show from Nintendo, but it is a terrible "article" jumping on the bandwagon around repairs/returns, not helped by the presumably automatic German/English translation.
