Scumbag lorry drivers!

Many trucks I see appear to have a total disregard for people closing in from behind in lane 2 and pull out with little to no warning.

I only have a 23 mile each way commute but 20 of that is on the A55 and most days I see the negative effects on traffic flow behind a truck overtake. Bear in mind the number of trucks going to/from Holyhead, sometimes it is laughable how many trucks are convoying in lane 1 with another going for a huge overtake. Perhaps it's the Irish ones with no concept of MSM, I haven't bothered to make that mental note yet..
I’d gladly bet a large majority will be Irish registered trucks dashing for the Holyhead ferry - if they miss the boat it costs them dearly - unfortunately consideration toward other road users - of all vehicle types - tends to go out of the window from what I’ve seen.

Invariably they run faster than U.K. registered trucks and are usually big power V8’s - I’ve often been passed by an Irish registered Scania V8’s in my car whilst I’ve been doing well over 65mph on trips to Anglesey....

Why do they see the need to overtake another lorry on a 4 lane dual carriageway road when they are going about 0.1 miles per hour faster than the lorry in front resulting in an overtake that takes multiple minutes??? This results in a massive build up of vehicles behind and generally slows the flow of traffic down substantially. Also, if you leave reasonable braking distance to the car it results in having to be ultra vigilant when passing lorries as you can be sure one of them scumbags will pull out in front of you to attempt a pointless overtake...

Bunch of absolute scumbags... I hate every last one of them to the core.

we have a driver at our place who on the side fights for money, one fight he had was with a gypsy who is well known in the fight game,mr muppet man aka rubberduck says he would like to kick drivers between the legs,i would love to see him try it with my work colleague, guarantee rubberduck would wake up in an ambulance,in fact I would like to see him say that to any hgv driver, most are big lads, doubt if he would have the bottle, all mouth

Big Bazzy C

He angeee

People are inconsiderate knobheads, be they in a car, on foot, or in an HGV.
Slow overtaking is annoying, but I understand the need for it - we have a huge network of LGVs and would suffer many delays if our drivers could not overtake.

Generally I get inconvenienced by LGVs far less than cars.

I used to see this a lot on my trips to Ireland, in recent years though I’ve never seen a truck in Europe go over about 65 - I assumed Vosa had become even stricter and modern trucks were harder to derestrict.

The trucks I remember doing 70+ were mostly early 90s models and as you say, Irish registered.

Where I live now, you can never tell how fast a truck is going to be just by looking at it as they tend to be rather “homemade”. It’s quite common to see something shiny and modern struggling to go over 40, and then get passed at 80+ by a 1970s Dina that someone’s stuck a 600bhp engine in.

Heya OP calling in again.

So had a situation at work where we had some equipment being delivered by a lorry (HGV) driver... He collected his load from Bedford early in the morning and had to take it up to my place of work in Teesside - quite some distance!... When he arrived late afternoon and we tried to unload the goods we found that it was on extra large pallets and we only had standard length forks on our fork lift... Now let me tell you the driver was an absolute Trouper in this situation and had a heart of gold.... He really went above and beyond the call of duty to get the load unloaded and was funny and a lovely chap in the process - we even shared a kit-kat lol.... What an absolute gem of a person and moreover actually a really knowledgeable gentleman about ensuring everything was done in an efficient and safe manner.

That said I will not apologise for my bigoted OP... I am stubborn

2018 and people still don't understand merge in turn :(

Having a mile long tailback instead of half a mile makes more sense, I guess?

I have no issue with merge-in-turn, however I always seem to come across entitled ***** who think because I've let one car in then I should be letting them in and almost take the front off my car forcing their way in.

That said I have NEVER, outside of the Highway code book, seen a merge in turn sign.

Dr Who said:
I would put money on it that a lorry driver has infinitely better use of MSM than car drivers

Based on my experience of just the last week I wouldn't place that bet

A lot of HGVs that I've come across in those 7days seem to think that not using mirrors and flicking the indicator on as they turn the wheel is the right procedure. Others seem to think that an indication means right of way.

In the interest of fairness I also witnessed other vehicle types doing the same.

I trust you still told him he was a scumbag. ;)

In my experience (~21 years of driving HGV’s) you have to constantly check your mirrors, if you were to just pull out without checking you’d be collecting other vehicles as due to your sheer size other vehicles won’t have as much chance to back off or manoeuvre around you.

Your always making allowances for the actions of those around you and your constantly watching your trailer in the mirrors as your manoeuvring again to make sure it’s not going to clip something or someone, if you didn’t you’d simply leave a wake of carnage behind you, it’s as simple as that.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I highly doubt it.

Car drivers have no clue how often LGV drivers use their mirrors, same for buses. I got accused of not using my indicators last week pulling out of a bus stop. I had been indicating for at least 30-40 seconds while 5 other cars passed me. My passengers were wetting themselves (they heard my indicator beeper) while I called out the Z3 driving mid life crisis bloke. Told me to check my highway code (have sat 3 exams for that recently) whilst he was unlikely to have looked at one since he passed his test.

If I drove like most drivers think I do, I would be wiping out cars every day yet surprisingly, am accident free for 12 months and the only incidents I have had prior are bus on bus low speed manoeuvring.

Sometimes you just have to be an ******* to get anything done in a timely manner when driving a large vehicle like a bus/lorry :D

There does not need to be a specific merge in turn sign for merge in turn to apply.

What happened when you kicked him in the nuts? Was he cool with it?

Don't sweat it, like every job there are ********* around. The vast majority in many jobs are also excellent.
