well i had my doubts about that backplate when i installed it months ago. anyway I my motherboard failed and I had to RMA it. which means taking off the backplate. hah! with a pair of pliers the metal actually bent before the glue would let go. totally ruined the PCB also, no chance of rma now.
so i advise not using it unless your certain your mb will never fail cos you wont get the bugger off.
 
I don't even bother with the Backplate.


My DFi Ultra-D Already has one,

and so did my Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty.
 
why not use a smaller cooler with less weight on its end, cause it acts like a lever putting more strain on whatevers holding it...why i was always so fond of CNPS9000 ;)
