SDD on AMD chipsets? TRIM, etc

Hi Folks help & advice needed.

My motherboard has fried and I need a new Mobo, CPU & memory to get me going again. I currently have a Intel P965 board with a Intel X-25 160gb SSD in it.

When I installed the SSD I turned off the AHCI & Intel Matrix Thingy as it did not support TRIM. Checking the Intel website I see the latest version of this drive (Rapid Storage Thingy) now supports TRIM for single drives, i.e.what I have, so if I went Intel I could use AHCI & TRIM.

Money wise I can't afford a 6gb/s Intel board, but the AM3 6gb/s boards look quite reasonable.

So the questions are:

If I go AMD is there an equivalent of the Intel Driver for AMD boards, & does it support TRIM?

What would be the best AMD chipset to go for (thinking of my SSD)?

Would a 6gb/s AMD board be better than a 3gb/s Intel board WITH AHCI & the rapid storage driver?

Hope someone can help,

Regards,

Davey G.
