Hey guys

Hey guys, I've just got myself a W810i today and think its a great little phone, however I've got one annoyance with it, whenever its in camera mode when you turn the light on it stays on constantly for about 5 seconds then begins to flash on and off. Is there any way of stopping this so the light will just stay on permanately when I'm taking pictures??

Thanx

Apparantly its a fault with the phone mate check this out...

Mine doesnt seem to do it but it seems it is a fault to do with the battery voltage level or something.

Hmm will have to keep an eye on that forum, everyone who has posted there seems to have the same problem as me so perhaps it is an issue with the W810...

for now I'll just have to stick to my temp fix of holding the * key, bit annoying having to do it everytime just to get the light to stay on but I can live with it for now.

Might give o2 a call tomorrow and see what they have to say

Well after more messing around with it I discovered holding the * key in camera mode only works about 50% of the time.

Started doing a little more research into this problem on the electrical interweb and there's people in other forums who have said that the new firmware R4CK (I think thats the name of it lol) fixes this problem.

We'll see about that when it is relased in the UK

Ahhhh ok here i go again lol

Right i have one of these and it was a tmobile branded phone. Anyways i de-branded it a couple of days ago with the Da Vinci firmware hack which gets rid of all that network rubbish. Anyways it seems like it also solved the flashing light camera problem as well as i had that problem.

Anyways for the last time ill say this, if you want to get rid of that flashing light problem then flash it with the Da Vinci firmware and it will sort that problem out.

As for that forum link??, i would suggest you remove it Scientific as its a competitor to OCUK, they do a few things that ocuk do...so best delete it before a Don sees it :).

By the way someone has spoken to SE about this and funnily enough they dont see it as a problem ie they wont acknowledge it but it might be resolved in the next firmware upgrade...personally i couldnt wait that long and i flashed it myself.

By the way just for your info, if you are going to flash the phone using the da vinci firmware flash then use R4ck0003 file EU2 firmware file as that is the one that will solve and rectify the flashing light problem :).

Cheers Pal, just removed that link.

By the way I have the orange branded version and I also did the de-branding and seem to have the new firmware which is R4CK, so no probs with the light.

just had an email back from SE.

They have said there is a fault on the software (like we didn't know) and to return the phone to POP for a replacement.

Are the new phones going to have the new software on?

hmmm strange as far as i knew it was down to the networks that screwed up the light problem ie causing it to flash on and off due to their branding.
I'd return and see if the same problem happens with the new one...if it does then its not SE, its the network thats messed it up

My mate who has the same phone albeit from o2 doesnt have this problem on his phone but then thats because o2 arent as stupid as Vodaphone, Orange and TMobile...they dont butcher the phones as badly as those 3 do.

The new ones seem to be fine, received my W810i yesterday from 02 and iv tried to replicate the problem but so far its been fine, light stays on like it should. Doesn't need de-branding either which saved me another 8 quid!
