I bought my new computer today and just checking everything and it seems I have got the 8mb version of the drive and not the 16mb version. Is it worth going back and swapping them out or should I just leave it as is?

As far as I know the 16mb cache drives are the faster single platter drives. Definitely worth the difference between the two

There are 16Mb and 8Mb cache versions of the single platter 7200.10, the original double platter 7200.10, the 7200.9 and possibly also the 7200.8 so without further information you can't make that generalisation.
