hey guys just got mine today and i got the green motor bu its not niosy at all the only issue i have with it,is that it only runs at sata1 speeds when i run HD Tach there is a jumper on it i was wondering if i change it or take it off will it run at Sata 2

Yup - but burst doesn't matter, what you need to look at is sustained/average read. This should be about 62-68MB/s and access time about 13.0ms.

lol, its 13ms and 62mb/s which means its ok, copies 250gb data to it so i know its working, cheers guys

Its more than okay, my 74gb 8mb cache raptor only gets 65mbs. There again, a perpendicular 10k drive would be quite something.

get urself the 16mb one and u will see a difference

i got the 16mb raptor x and i can hardly notice the speed increase over other drives, my opinion is its not worth the hefty price. got my rma info returned from seagate from my disastrous 7200.10 hopefully this one is better than a really slow giger counter

So is the difference between Sata1 and Sata2 noticeable? Cos i have the same drive. It would be nice to get it to run faster. It would compensate for the horrible 'geiger counter' noise it makes

So how do you get it to run at Sata2 exactly?

i didnt notice much difference, my drive was full of bad sectors i downloaded seagate tools and found my problem from there
