Seagate 7200.10 320GB help

I didnt get mine from OcUK apologies, however FYI mine would appear to be the non-silent one.
I purchased online from another reputable etailer.

Hotdog.

Hi,

Got two today from another honorable retailer and mine are the silent variety.

The firmware is updated from some seagate 7200.10 drives that have 3.AAC and also these drives are made in Singapore instead of China - Site Code : WU - Two other data codes also: 6522 & 6527, but mine read 07026

Drive 1
Date Code : 07026
Firmware : 3.AAD
Site Code : AMK
Product of Singapore

Drive 2
Date Code : 07026
Firmware : 3.AAD
Site Code : AMK
Product of Singapore

Am going to get them setup in raid stripe and post a result to see how the firmware upgrade has done to increase performance or not.

Hi there, I recieved a pair of these from OcUK today and they were both the silent types if that helps :)

Though they did forget my speakers in the delivery :(

(Yay for my first post)

Thanks everyone, do the people with the 'silent' version, think its quiet?

Well haven't been able to put my rig together yet... however a friend has them and I can say they are quiet (well in my opinion at least)

@ david25 & binboy

hello guys

is that how you can tell if you have a quite one or not?

by the pics and firmware, is there anything else to keep an eye on?

thanks

As im the only one with the noisy version Grrr ill post what spec mine has:-

Drive 1
Date Code : 07022
Firmware : 3.AAC
Site Code : WU
Product of SORRY CHEAP CHINA

Did i read that the noisy version is the faster one? (ooerrr stirs debate!) :)

Hi, check storagereview.com

I think its just the spindle pic, some drives are shipping with AAD firmware, but I imagine its bot versions.

Ok im totally lost now after reading that lot from storagereview. So is the seagate.10 320 any good or should i change it straight away? Bearing in mind i have the faster oem version from china?

Im confused

Ive come from using a diamondmax10 250gig and i dont want it to be as noisy as that piece of junk was/is! And thats with it inside a scythe neoprene/rubber hddisk enclosure

I'm going for the quiet seagate, as its still damn fast, if you want
