Only reason I ask is because I did a benchmark and that said the burst speed was ~240MB/sec which to me implies it is already running at SATA II speeds?
If it is working fine then there is no need to remove the jumper, 240mb/s suggests the jumper isn't doing anything anyway, if it was then you could remove it as per Seagates instructions.
//edit you could always remove it and then test again just to check if it does make the slightest bit of difference to you.
