I've purchased the Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s HDD, it states SATA 6Gb/s, so should I plug it in SATA 2 or SATA 3 port on my motherboard?

Sata 3 is 6gb/s so ideally sata3. Backward compatible though if you run out of sata 3 (using SSD's etc).

It doesn't matter which port you use, the drive is barely capable of saturating SATA1 let alone anything faster.

The 32mb cache is capable though. Correct me if I'm misunderstanding but sata3 would be faster with small reads?
