Good Morning All,
This will be my first time posting here. I've been recently trying to repair a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM103, which appears to power up, but no detection occurs on a hardware level, i.e within the BIOS.
After doing some research it was suggested I replace the PCB hard drive controller and transfer the BIOS TSOP chip to the new donor PCB. Having purchased an identical PCB with matching firmware etc, and using chip off chip on equipment I have successfully transferred the chip.
Upon powering the hard drive with the new PCB the same problems still occur. Further research suggests this may be caused by corrupted firmware. What would be the next step to resolve that? What equipment or software is required?
Many thanks
