Ok guys I have set up my new rig and run SisoftSandra this is what error comes up on my physical disks X2

Warning W3104 - Current transfer mode not optimal, i.e. not highest supported. This affects drive performance. If the controller is also capable of the highest supported transfer mode, there is no reason not to use it.

These are the 2 drives :-

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM x2

I notice there is a jumper setting one for 1.5g/sec and one for 3g/sec operation although I went to the Seagte site and they say that the jumpers have no relevance just for factory set up.

I tried removing the jumper as no jumper = 3g/sec. The op system would then not boot!

I ran a test using HD Tach and the burst speed is 134MB/sec average read 66.1 MB/sec. Is this any good?

I am using mobo GA-965p DS3 maybe the bios settings are all to ****, I am fairly new to this any help would be most appreciated

TIA

The average transfer rate is good but the burst speed is less than 150Mb/s which suggests that the drive is indeed running in SATA1 mode as the jumper settings suggest.

While you can remove the jumper and try and get the drives working in 3Gbps mode I doubt you'll notice any difference.

When I remove the jumper the os will not boot, bit strange really, any suggestions?

Also I have windows validation, it says too many hardware changes now, enter NEW serial number, oh no.

I'd leave the jumpers on then, the hassle of getting things working isn't going to be worth it given that you'll probably not notice any difference in performance.

I plugged my HD in today also, exactly yours but the 320gb version. I plugged the wires in and took the jumper out, loaded up windows and it just installed? Everything just worked. :D
