Hi guys I was just wondering what the difference was as the performance is the same on paper but WD is ~£15 more expensive?

Just asking for knowledge for when I come to build my pc.

Cheers

Speed wise they are pretty similar, with the Barracuda slightly faster.
The Barracuda has a bit of a bad rep on reliability.
The WD Black has a five year warranty against the Barracuda's two year.
I have used both and never had one fail.
If a hard drive fails on you, your just unlucky.

I was already looking at a WD 1TB Black so I think I'll stick with it, it's within my budget so that with the warranty and all I think I'll keep that in mind. I'll add more memory as and when required as it's not really worth going 2TB and up as you only save about £5-£10 at each step.

Yeah if it were me I would definitely go for Western Digital as the 5 year warranty is easily worth the £10-£15 over the Seagate.

In general the Seagate drives are not as reliable either.
