Anyone have any experience with these RMA returned drives? Do they just slap a new sticker on peoples RMAs? Because i got a package today of 8 7200rpm laptop returned hdds with 'certified repaired' labels on them and 5 of 8 fail Seatools long test (tried it in 3 different laptops too so its not a controller issue, and all fail on bad sectors).

At work we've had loads of problems with 'repairs'. Always run them through Seatools and get them back if faulty.

I have had a few returned drives that were "fixed"

Most died very soon after return , I think it is better to just bin
the drive it is not worth the trouble of trying to get it re-paired

From Seagate. Sent off to their Milton Keanes DHL depot and then to Germany or something i think. These were from a lot of 15 retail drives we bought to replace some 5400.5 ones that were stolen from a few laptops about a year ago (kids these days  ). Seems the 7200 ones are not nearly as robust as the 5400 ones, cooling is not an issue as the laptops have more than ample.
