Anybody got one? What are they liked?
Just more model info since i wont be allowed to link to the web page:
OEM - Seagate Cheetah 15K.5 146.8GB 15,000rpm 16MB 4-Gb/s Fibre Channel Hard Disk Drive

iam guessing they wont be best for a quiet system? the above is for sale at £84.37 inc. VAT which if i had the money just now i would get a put aside for the new build.

Also noticed that it has a window, what case modes have poeple down to show off the hard-drive?

cheers

It's Fibre Channel which is different from both SAS and SCSI so you'll need a specific Fibre Channel controller card.

Don't even consider one for a quiet system, the drive is an enterprise class server drive so performance and reliability are far more important than noise levels.

I dont find my 73gb 15.5's disks that loud at all. they're certainly a lot quiter than my Fujitsu 10k SCSI units.

The only time I *Really* know they're there is when I start the box up, I think there's a bag-of-nails rattle in the start up sequence. :D

I have 2 SAS Seagate Cheetah 15K.5 in RAID, they're not loud at all? when spinning/booting up at the start they make more noise than when operating.

As for buying them, it's an expensive and relatively useless investment, I found out the hard way. :)
