Well any external drive will be limited by the speed of USB, so performance is pretty much the same across the board. All you're looking at is reliability, they are standard drives inside so just pick the brand you prefer, I like Western Digital so I bought a My Book but if you have no problems with buying a Seagate then go with that one.
If I were you i'd try to get one with eSATA at least for the sake of transfer speed, will make life easier for sure. Depends on what you have on your PC first.
I have an aversion to seagate since the last firmware fiasco and how it was handled - don't like them as a company at all! WD all the way for me bar my 1TB sammy, which is purring along nicely still (and darn fast!).
