seagate HDD failed.

My backup external HDD has failed (1.5tb :eek:

) and I need a replacement. Problem is.......I need to try and recover the data.

Is there any way to persuade seagate to let me open the drive up to try and recover some stuff by inserting it into a pc? Without invalidating warranty obviously.

FYI

If it's a "backup" drive then all the data should already be somewhere else.

If the data is only on the "backup" drive then it's not a "backup" at all.

Harsh but true mate.. unfortunately i think you'll invalidate any warranty if you open it.
