Ive just took the plunge and purchased the Seagate 7200.11 500GB 32MB cache hard drive.

Ive installed Vista and all is running fine.

However the drive itself is mega noisy when accessing files.

Is this common with these new breed?? I had a 7200.10 one before and it was noisy but not half as noisy as this one..

It sounds like its broken!!!

Thanks

Ive just run HD Tune as well and I dont understand what this means at the bottom (Ive circled it in red)

Does this mean my drive isnt running up to full potential???

I have got 2 of these drives in raid0. Since i have setup raid i have noticed a muffled rumbling sound when in use. however, when i had them in IDE mode i could not hardly here them...very strange.

sounds like you may have a faulty one, yours is in IDE mode...it should be very quite!

The main noise thats doing me head in is the really loud clicking when the drive is being accessed and also when the computer is doing nothing , just sitting idle.

Million times louder than my old 7200.10

Can you tell me what colour the glue is on the bottom of your drive??

Ive been told its like the older models where if its PINK then the drive is a fast and quiet one but if its any other colour then its a noisy bugger
