With the problems some people are having with Seagate drives being very noisy, would it be best to go for a Western Digital Caviar SE16 instead? If I remember correctly, they weren't the the most reliable or quietest available (admittedly, that was a while ago now)
I was going to get a Seagate 250GB before finding out about this problem (and I'm glad I did!
)
I used to use Maxtor drives but the last few were noisy/slow and failed on me, so that's not an option.
