It says for a seagate RMA not to use bubble wrap or peanuts but to use 2" thick foam rubber. I'm finding this nearly impossible to get my hands on

What else could I use that will be sufficient?

Yeh I had the same issue with WD, I ended up putting the drive in bubble wrap and foam.

The ironic thing is when they sent the new one back it was in a box in a simple tray with no bubble wrap or foam, what gives!

bumping an old thread alert!

Any way, I have to rma a 3tb seagate and the pdf instructions say not to use bubble wrap but what's the deal...should i just wrap it up (including an anti-static) and send it on its merry way? Their packaging instructions are oddly specific and almost seem intended to just put people off!
