Hi,

Just fitted this new drive into my computer and it's not showing up. Checked the bios, and there looks to be a new device "STxxxxxxx". I couldn't get the jumper bracket out, so i left it in. Any1 got a way of taking it out? Or am I doing something else wrong?

There's no need to remove the jumper really. The drive will simply need partitioned and formatted before it will appear in My Computer.

Right click on My Computer and pick Manage, then go into Disk Management in the resulting window. Follow the instructions to initialise the new drive then in the main Disk Management window right click in the unallocated space on the new drive and select New Volume, follow the wizard through, make sure you check the quick format box and you should be done.

What he said. All the jumper on those drives does is set between sata-150 and sata2-300. It wont change whether the drive will show up or not.

Ah thanks guys, I just formatted it and works fine now :). Will there be much of a difference if i set it to sata2-300? Or will my mobo even support it?

Your board supports it but you'll only see an improvement in burst transfer rate which is pretty much meaningless in the real world.
