I bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320gb SATAII 16mb ST3320620AS from Ocuk last month and just got around to installing it.

For some reason it shows up in my Bios and device manager but not in My Computer. I've tried everything, swapping the cables, using both Vista64 and XP, taking the jumper out of the back and still it wont show, I really cant suss it out. Anyone else had this problem? I cant seem to find a solution

Go into control panel; performance and maintenance; administrative tools; computer management and then finally disk management.
From here you can initialise and format the disk for use. (Win XP)

I've gone through god knows how many drives over the years and never had to do this. Thanks for the help though!

This is a really common one and not at all obvious - I think Windows should pop up a 'some drives are not initialised' type box when a fresh drive is installed. I'm surprised this isn't in Vista!
