I just wanted to let anybody who is interested know that seagates returns policy is excellent, i recently sent back a 250g hdd and within 3 days i had a brand new 320gb hdd as a replacement.
Sorry I should have said 10k SATA.
A normal 7.2k SATA is always gonna be Seagate, the 7200.10
I have had both Seagates 15k4's and Maxtor Atlas II's (u320) and found the Maxtor faster in RAW I/O commands. I have yet to get my hand on a 15k5 so will reserve judgement on that one. Also pretty much all SCSI come with 5 years warranty so it's down to the fastest for me.
Maxtor Atlas' are one of the best SCSI you can get. Before merger, despite how poor their consumer range was, their SCSI range has always been flawless.
I've got 9 seagates, and all are still chugging away, including a 6.7GB Medalist 5400rpm with 128KB cache - noisy bugger though.
