Has anyone got any tips or advice for getting my website into the search engines?

My "Repairs" website is mainly images so is there anything I can do to like changing anything in the <HEAD> for example, for the engines to pick up (Meta tags is it?)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Search engines began dropping support for META keywords in 1998, and by the early 2000s, most search engines had veered away from reliance on meta elements, and in July 2002 AltaVista, one of the last major search engines to still offer support, finally stopped including them.

Interesting? What do I do for newer engines then?

Hey Huddy,

This may have got a better response in the HTML forum.

But one thing you can do seeing as your site is mostly images is to add all the relevant text to the alt tag on the image - search engines will pick this up esp. google, meta tags are still useful so do use them.

Also make sure you give your pages nice relevant title and a concise to the point description to your pages as these will all be looked at by search engines
