Search in Vista?

How the hell do I search a folder for files of a particular extension type and then search these files for some text. Been playing around with Vista and my simple head can't seem to figure out how to do a task that was so easy in XP

Patience is a virtue, just realised the options were set to only allow searching of text within indexed locations

Still having problems but now with another folder, the search dialog doesn't bring up anywhere for me to type the text that I want searched within the files in that folder. Can anybody give this thicko a helping hand please

Was so much easier in XP.
