Searching for a simple recipe

Hey,

My girlfriend is coming to visit next week and we usually just end up going on a night out for a meal but I wanted to cook for her this time. I'm not a very good cook and only really know how to cook basic things like Spag Bol and that's a bit boring.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a meat/fish dish that's relatively simple to cook and doesn't take too long to make? Nothing spicy please!

Might do the beef steak with mashed potato and veg suggestion or Teriyaki chicken.

I can't cook much either so basic things I try are lemon chicken with rice or some kind of pasta bake.

Just a case of buying off the shelf sauce and frying for the lemon or chicken or putting in the oven for 20 minutes or so and you can pretty much add what you like to a pasta bake, tune or bacon or chicken or Italian sausage.

I use off the shelf sauces on a daily basis so I wanted to give some real cooking a shot, making the stuff myself.
