SEAT Leon MK2 Any good ?

My brother has a Mk2 Leon (08 plate) and I have to say the interior is just not my thing, although they do look great from the outside and it was great value for money.

Also Just for information, some of the earlier 2.0 TFSI engines found in the "sports" trim are actually only 185bhp.

So sorry, I missed your budget there some how...you might get lucky though - post a wanted advert on seatcupra.net. I just sold my 2007 Cupra for 6k on there.

Otherwise yes, FR is the next best thing....no bucket seats and xenons though :(

Wasn't the cupra 260bhp? Or 240bhp maybe?

Remember having a shot of a friends years back, was only 20/21 as was one of the first to get one in the UK. At the time it was amusingly quick. A friend also had an Cupra R mk1. I seem to have quite a soft spot for these, and something keeps telling me to pick up a cheap lcr...

The MK2 is 240bhp as standard.

Was great fun to drive :) Shame its FWD I guess but hey, lovely cars imo.

Thin paint (try not to laugh when the dealer quotes 'racing heritage' and 'saving weight'), plastic small rear windows, felt battery box, no engine cover on the oil burners, not sure if they bothered on the petrol's, stupid material selections for the sports seats/trim, doors are way too easy to pry open at the top edge to gain entry, leaks from A/B pillars are common (expect the drain to be blocked from the sunroof or in our case the pipe nipped during build), dash is marmite and the cam followers on some of the petrol engines may as well have been made of cheese. Our 06 still had the Teves MK60 issue as well. Personally having owned an Octavia mk2, Golf mk5, Fabia mk1 and a Leon mk2 i'd never buy another Seat, the other two were significantly better put together.

Not sure why the interior seems to be so hated, my wife has one (SE Copa trim, so not sure about pre-facelift) and compared to the Golfs she's had as courtesy cars the only real things I'd say I preferred on the Golf were a more practical boot lip (i.e. not as rounded so easier to get wide items in and out) and the isofix points are about 10x easier to use (and to be fair most people will rarely need to touch that if at all). The console seems much of a muchness from what I can tell - to be honest it is pretty rare I am impressed by the interior of any mainstream car.

The interior in the older MK2 is awful. However the newer cars like 2010 + are far better. Id have a MK2 Cupra at a drop of a hat. When they face lifted the MK2 they also made small tweaks to the interior which made it ok.
